28. Edna Wilcox's Camp

Lot 858 Tower Street

Edna Wilcox’s Camp is the first unoccupied cottage on the right as the visitor enters Gwalia Ghost Town’s main street.

The front verandah has a concrete floor and timber lattice infill and there are skillion (lean-to) additions across the front and rear elevations of the cottage.

The interior has five rooms with timber floors throughout and the walls are clad in corrugated iron and cloth. Since 1985, the cottage has been re-roofed and the cladding secured to the north wall.

The first owner registered in the Rate Books was Robert Irving in 1922/23, with the rateable value at the time £10 ($20). Edna Wilcox was registered as the last owner from 1961 until 1966.
